Judge Datuk Ahmad Bache said Datuk Peter Anthony failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecutions case.

Peter Anthony has deceived four individuals, including Najib Razak, to get a contract for the operation and maintenance of the M&E system at UMS worth almost RM25 million to be awarded to his company.

Datuk Peter Anthony telah menipu empat individu termasuk Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak bagi mendapatkan kontrak kerja operasi dan penyelenggaraan sistem mekanikal dan elektrikal (M&E) di UMS.

Peter was charged with having falsified a letter from the office of UMS deputy vice-chancellor by inserting a false statement.

Hakim Mahkamah Sesyen Azura Alwi membuat keputusan itu selepas mendapati pihak pembelaan gagal menimbulkan keraguan munasabah di akhir kes pembelaan.

Judge Azura Alwi made the decision after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in proving a prima facie case against Peter.

Peter was told that the contract would be awarded through an open tender, a decision that was made by the university's Board of Directors in a meeting.

Najib felt he had been deceived as the contents of the letter delivered to him were contrary to the real intentions of the university.

UMS had sent a letter to Najib denying that it had given support to Asli Jati Engineering Sdn Bhd for the awarding of the maintenance and services work.

Peguam Datuk D Senthinathan memaklumkan kepada mahkamah bahawa anak guamnya dikenakan perintah kuarantin selama 10 hari bermula 16 hingga 26 April.

Mohd Irwan Serigar turut mengesahkan beliau menandatangani dua memorandum pertimbangan kepada Menteri Kewangan berkenaan permohonan kelulusan bagi projek itu.

Terdahulu, Peter, 50, mengaku tidak bersalah apabila pindaan kepada pertuduhan utama dan pertuduhan pilihan terhadapnya dibacakan di hadapan Hakim Azura Alwi.
